Future scientists discover the way for people to never be lonely - everyone's life partner is their identical twin.
Rebecca is different. She is the last "single", an outcast in a world where everyone has a double. Her only companion is her dog, Bernie. On her fortieth birthday her loneliness compels her to change her life and get a clone. At the hospital she meets twin doctors Peter and Paul. Paul meets secretly with Rebecca to learn how to be alone. His fascination with her "singleness" will change his and Peter's life forever.
